About the San Diego Martial Arts & Community Center
In 2003 Jiai Aikido was founded by Jeff Sodeman Sensei, who created the dojo (place of training) for the study of Aikido (Japanese martial art) and Systema (Russian martial art). In 2009 he turned the dojo over to Cat Strada Sensei, who assumed the role of Dojo Cho (owner/manager). Her vision for the space was to create a place that many different arts, services, and styles could coexist in our amazing facility in a cooperative fashion to serve the community.
With this feeling and vision, the San Diego Martial Arts & Community Center was created. We offer a variety of services and classes that will enhance people's lives, empower people, and lead to growth, development and better health. This is an incubator space, with the member activities sharing resources, and working to promote themselves, the SDMACC, and each other in a non-competitive fashion. The MACC has almost 5,000sqft of space, with 2,400sqft of it matted surface with 50' of continuous mirrors. We have ADA restrooms, and ADA access to the facility. With ample parking, large common area and lobby, shower and full kitchen, and signage opportunities our facility is well-suited for a variety of activities.
